Path clearing at the Hole

A week back we were at the hole and the path was very overgrown. Probably because of the severe seepage that the hole experiences weeks after any rain, so the path is unused for a large part of the year.

Today we cut back a lot of thorn bushes that were blocking the path and cleared away what we could. There were several proteas that were also blocking the path. I know it is illegal to pick proteas (and I assume fynbos in general), but for path clearing? Any ideas as to how to get permission for this or is it easier to just do it?

My feeling is to just do it, just be sure to prune it with a pair of cutters (i.e. Don't rip branches and make it look messy or hurt the plants).
Cut it well back so that it doesn't need to be cut again next year.
Tx for doing this :thumleft:

P.s. I think it would only become illegal if you removed the cuttings from the Park. Disperse of the cuttings in an orderly fashion so that they don't become an eyesore next to path.

Thanks for the path clearing, are you doing the old path or the new one?

There are 2 paths? I have only used one. You walk up from boys drive through the stone doorway and up onto the main path. Then pretty high up, you take a right between some boulders, there are logs steps on the path.
