"Retro-Onsighting"

Postby Forket » Thu Feb 13, 2014 1:51 pm

So I've been wondering, since I have to look at the caption every time I come onto climbza, Brian, most people that know you know that you remember almost every piece of beta on a route you've ever done. So can you please explain how retro on-sighting works?

Good question ET! I am only aware of the much coveted "retro-flash".
This is the first that I've heard of a "retro-onsight".

It's when you forget every piece of beta on a route (that you've done before).
Don't be in a hurry to understand (it comes with age

I initially flashed Karfoefeling years ago and haven't given any thought to it since. So as I was climbing it the other day it felt like an onsight so I made a joke about it as I was starting the crux. Next thing I know it's a caption on a photo that Gustav uploaded. I'm innocent. ROFL

Retro flashing / onsighting only applies to those of us who are very blonde or over 40. Anybody for some more bleach???

Phew, thanks for backing me up there! I (barely) qualify. And I can definitely do with some time on the beach.
