Emile on Bouldering in Germany, Australia and Japan
Well, I'm not officially here for a climbing trip, I'm completing a language course for a Masters degree that begins in September. I've resigned myself to another 2 years of study so that I can experience some of the wicked European bouldering.

He was the first person to climb grade 31 in South Africa, they wanted to take his ropes away for falling too much, spent 20 months in total dirt bagging through the US and now has his sights set on a grade 33!

50th Anniversary Ascent of the Sentinel
The climb was opened in February 1959, in an era when climbers wore canvas anoraks, takkies as climbing boots and relied on hemp ropes and pitons hammered into cracks for safety and protection.

Training Day Part 4 – It’s not a size problem it is a power problem!
The finger board is the best peace of equipment that you could invest into in order to improve your power. You can isolate specific muscles, control the training intensity very well and have a clear picture of your progression and increase in power.

Training Day – Changing your mind set!
Remember, rule number one is, stay reasonably fit!
You shouldn’t have gone overboard with the eating and being slack! Second rule, TAKE IT SLOW! Having the same expectations you finished off with last summer will only hurt, cause damage and make you realize that you have a long way to go, and depression will set in.

Micky Wiswedel Interview
I’ve been seeing a lot of great pictures recently on this site, of bouldering and sport climbing, and I think most would agree the best of them are taken by Micky Wiswedel. He manages to capture the climber AND the line, not many photographers seem to be able to do that as well as Micky.

Climber rescued from 300m cliff face (Blouberg)
Far from help Andrew Hartmeier was rescued after sustaining a severe fall on the north face of Blouberg, some 120km north west of Polokwane. The rescue was carried out by the Mountain Club of SA and the South African Air Force 17 Squadron whilst fellow climbers also assisted in the rescue.
